Falling
A Quiet and Simple Journey
Concept
Sadness is a peaceful process of self-healing.
Rather than fearing the descent, I chose to face the scenery rushing toward me. While working on this project, I was experiencing the loss of my family. I knew it was something inevitable, yet I never expected it to happen so suddenly. I channeled my emotions into this theme, and through the creative process, I gradually found a way to reconcile with myself. Sadness is not a negative thing — it is simply a form of expression, just like laughter. So why not choose to smile instead?
The Turning Point
One of the most memorable lessons I learned while creating this piece came from a professor: A good designer doesn’t start at 90 and end at 50, but rather consistently delivers at 70. I realize now that my dreams were too big. Poor time management and an obsession with details led to a rushed ending. But this realization became the greatest takeaway from this project—a turning point in how I approach design moving forward.
A big shoutout to Professor Min Ho Shin, thank you!
